Cleveland - Mayor-Elect Justin Bibb visited the house of labor on Wednesday, joined by nearly 50 labor leaders from 25 different unions and affiliated organizations. Bibb talked about his upbringing in a union household and discussed the significant challenges ahead of him. He extended an open door policy to union leaders and spoke in support of providing city employees with the resources they need to do their job, and a need to raise their pay.

The general feeliing among those in attendance is that Bibb's willingness to meet with union members is a sign of good things to come. Last month, Bibb announced his transition subcommittees and task forces which include several Cleveland labor leaders, including three North Shore Executive Board leaders. They include:

  • Executive Secretary Dan O'Malley
  • Cleveland Teachers Union President Shari Obrenski
  • AFSCME Ohio Council 8 Regional Director Marquez Brown
  • Cleveland Firefighters President Fran Lally, Jr.
  • Fraternal Order of Police President Jeff Follmer
